Background Information

Wright-Eakes was born in Durham, N.C.  She immersed herself in arts instruction daily throughout her formative years.  Her talents spanned drawing, painting, photography, jewelry and bookmaking.

Later study under master woodblock printer and sumi-e painter Keiji Shinohara allowed Wright-Eakes the opportunity to bring her range of skills and passion into focus.  She extended the boundaries of sumi-e into modern abstract landscapes, finding satisfaction in the limitless expression and spontaneity allowed by the movement of ink.  Wright-Eakes incorporates drawing, painting, college and other media to develop her unique style of sumi-e painting.

Wright-Eakes currently lives and works in Guatemala City.
